What is the Illuminize Peel®?

The Illuminize Peel® is a chemical peel will exfoliate your skin to reveal a smoother and more refreshed complexion. Consult with an aesthetic expert to determine if this is the treatment for you!

This peel includes:

  • Salicylic Acid
  • Mandelic Acid
  • Resorcinol
  • Malic Acid
  • Phytic Acid

How Does It Work?

The SkinMedica® Illuminize Peel® uses a gentle superficial chemical peel to help brighten the skin. The peel is administered by a facial aesthetics expert and it works on all skin types, by rapidly turning over skin cells which cause significant peeling of the outermost layer of skin. This method of peeling is also known as sloughing. During the initial consultation, we will help you create a customized treatment plan to achieve your specific objectives.

The procedure usually takes 45 minutes total and there’s no expected downtime with SkinMedica® Illuminize Peel®. Most patients do not experience redness or discoloration, but these effects can sometimes occur. It’s important to take precaution when exposing newly peeled skin to sunlight, and use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to prevent sunburn.

SkinMedica® Illuminize Peel® reviews show that the Illuminize Peel® is ideal for patients who have never had a chemical peel before and don’t know how their skin will react. For patients who are looking to refresh and revitalize their skin, this peel is a perfect choice!

Who Is Eligible For An Illuminize Peel®?

Patients with mild-to-moderate skin imperfections are ideal candidates from Illuminize Peel® treatments. All skin types can benefit this peel, however, pregnant or lactating women should not use SkinMedica® peels. Patients with open wounds, sunburn, sensitive skin, or other skin conditions should not receive the peel. Those who have recently received cancer treatments or taken Accutane for acne should also avoid the Illuminize Peel®.

Prior to a treatment a consultation is required. Patients should read the consent form to determine what to avoid days to weeks prior to the chemical peel application. Shedding can occur for 5-7 days; this can vary in duration and intensity for each patient. Sun precaution and SPF with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide is required during post care.

Before receiving the treatment, avoid any procedures or products that could increase skin sensitivity. Patients will be able to see results immediately following the chemical peel, with their skin glowing and looking refreshed. To maintain results, treatments can be repeated every two weeks. Proper aftercare and following all instructions will elongate results.

After receiving your peel treatment, products such as SkinMedica® TNS® Illuminating Eye Cream enhance the results. TNS® is a mixture of growth factors, such as naturally secreted proteins that work to use unique ingredients to help improve the appearance of dark circles. A complete regimen, including multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve desired results.
